Whenever I want to make a cake with a pudding, or just a pudding for dessert, I make my own homemade recipe, which is really amazing. Check it out.
Now before you groan at the thought of plain vanilla pudding, this is homemade, not from a box, and we bet you’ll enjoy it far more than you might think. We all know that food made from scratch is almost always better than when it comes from a package.
So when we discovered this beyond-simple recipe for dry vanilla pudding mix, we couldn’t believe it was possible. Turns out, the mixture is super easy to put together and will keep for up to six months (in an airtight container) but once you realize how delicious this is, we highly doubt it will last that long in storage (because you’ll have made all of it!).
The dry mix itself is just vanilla bean seeds, cornstarch, dry milk powder, sugar, and salt. Give everything a good stir and a good shake in the container to make sure they’re all evenly blended. Now, to make the pudding we add milk, and butter to the dry mix and heat the ingredients together on a stovetop. In a matter of minutes, we’ve whisked together a rich and creamy vanilla pudding that is luxurious and sweet. That’s it! So simple it’s almost silly.
